Sharp has announced its latest flagship smartphone, the AQUOS R6 with 6.6-inch WXGA+ IGZO OLED, 240Hz adaptive refresh rate, Snapdragon 888 SoC, and the world's first 1-inch camera sensor on its rear.
When the renders of the AQUOS R6 first appeared a few weeks ago, we reported that Sharp had teamed up with Leica to offer optimized camera performance and the result of this partnership introduced the world’s first smartphone with a 1-inch image CMOS sensor.
AQUOS R6's primary shooter is a 20.2MP 1-inch CMOS sensor paired with a 12.6 ToF lens. Leica's Summicron lens allows the smartphone to take pictures in high resolution.

The smartphone features a 6.6 inch WUXGA + Pro IGZO OLED with a resolution of 1,260 x 2,730px (2K+) and a 240Hz high refresh rate. This display offers a peak brightness of a whopping 2000 nits—which is the highest in the industry—, and even supports HDR content with 1 billion colors as well with a 20,000,000:1 high contrast ratio.
The device packs 12GB RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage along with a 5,000mAh battery that supports Intelligent Charge 2.0.
It also comes with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor that supports a two-finger unlocking feature.
According to a quote by the company, “The fingerprint sensor of AQUOS R6 is equipped with Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max, which is 11 times larger than the conventional ones and the largest size in the world.”
