The launch date for the Redmi K40 series has been announced as February 25 as revealed by the company’s General Manager, Lu Weibing. The announcement was made via a teaser image uploaded on Weibo. The two phones that are expected to be launched are the K40 and the K40 Pro. Both devices come as successors to the Redmi K30 which launched over a year ago in December 2019.
Redmi K40 Series Pricing & Processor
The K40 is rumored to be powered by the new Snapdragon 870 SoC processor and is likely to be priced around 1,999 yuan, which is approximately $309. The K40 Pro is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s new flagship Snapdragon 888 Mobile Platform processor which seems just about right considering that the device is expected to boast 108MP quad rear shooters and up to 12 gigabytes of RAM. Rumour has it that the K40 Pro will retail for 2,999 yuan, which is about $406.
Display & Battery
Both devices are set to come with AMOLED screens with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a Full HD+ display (1080 x 2400). They are also expected to pack batteries with a capacity of above 4,000mAh. The Redmi smartphone models named M2012K11AC and M2012K11C recently got a 3C certification (also known as “CCC” or China CCC Certification), which confirmed that the devices could support 33W fast charging. We expect the same to be available on the new K40 series smartphones.
We have only a couple of weeks to wait until all that is unknown about the K40 series becomes known, and we can get the full story about its specs and abilities. Come February 25, we would finally get the chance to see the new Redmi K40 and K40 Pro in their full glory.
