OnePlus has announced the launch of the OnePlus Buds Z2 on October 13, alongside the OnePlus 9 RT smartphone. Images of the retail package surfaced soon afterward in a tweet shared by @evleaks revealing its content; charging cable, extra tips, and charging case with a glossy finish.
According to the image, the retail box has a red and white color design in line with the OnePlus brand. Inside, it packs warranty information, a user guide, two pairs of silicone ear tips (in different sizes), a USB Type-C charging cable, and the charging case which houses the earbuds.
OnePlus confirmed in the announcement post on Weibo that the OnePlus Buds Z2 will feature Dolby Atmos, Bluetooth 5.2, IP55 rating for dust and water resistance, and deep noise reduction (according to the translation from Chinese). It is worth noting that deep noise reduction or Active Noise Cancellation was missing in its predecessor, the OnePlus Buds Z.
The post also revealed that the TWS earbuds have a slightly angled in-ear design with some sensors on the buds which could be for wear detection— a feature that also wasn't available in the Buds Z.
OnePlus Buds Z2 are expected to have a 40mAh battery in each earbud while the charging case will pack a 520mAh battery. It is expected that the earbuds will have over 7 hours of playback time on a single charge which can be extended to 38 hours with the charging case. A 10 minutes charge is also reported to provide up to 5 hours of playback time.
