Nokia G21 Smartphone Announced with Unisoc T606 Processor, 4GB RAM & a 5050mAh Battery That Promises 3 Days Of Battery Life

HMD Global has announced a new smartphone in the Nokia G-Series called the Nokia G21 which is the successor to last year's Nokia G20. The new smartphone doesn't feature major upgrades when compared to its predecessor but it comes with an improved refresh rate, processor, and battery life.

The Nokia G21 smartphone features the same 6.5-inch HD+ V-notch display with 1600 x 720 pixel resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. Instead of the 60Hz refresh rate the G20 was launched with, it boasts a 90Hz refresh rate— a first for the G-Series.

It is powered by the 12nm Unisoc T606 chipset, a major upgrade on its predecessor's Helio G35. The Nokia G21 smartphone also packs a 4GB RAM with 64GB/128GB internal storage that can be expanded via microSD.

At its rear, it features a triple-camera set-up that includes a 50MP main camera (unlike the 48MP in G20) accompanied by a 2MP depth and Macro sensors. It is worth noting that the Nokia G21 completely misses out on the 5MP ultra-wide camera its predecessor came with.

Furthermore, it comes with a night mode and Super Resolution features that enhances the quality and detail of captured images. It also houses an 8MP front-facing camera in a water-drop notch.

In terms of connectivity, it offers Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5, GPS/ GLONASS/ Beidou, USB Type-C, and NFC (optional). It runs on Android 11 out of the box but HMD promises it will receive two upgrades to its OS; Android 12 & 13.

Finally, the biggest upgrade on the Nokia G21 is its battery life. Though it packs the same 5,050mAh battery (but with 18W fast charging support) its predecessor did, the Nokia G21 is set to run for three whole days per one full charge according to HMD. The company improved the power modes, increasing the first level of power saving to begin at 20% rather than 10% while the second level begins at 10%. These power modes are what ensures that the smartphone can last that long before the battery runs out.
