Lenovo's first foray into the gaming smartphone market came last year when it launched the Legion Phone Pro (aka Legion Duel) in 2020 and subsequently, the Legion Phone 2 Pro (Legion Duel 2) earlier this year.
With the company working on the Legion Phone 3 Pro (Legion Duel 3) which will be the successor to the Legion Phone 2 Pro, the General Manager, Chin Jin, of Lenovo's Mobile Division in China took to Weibo to talk about the upcoming Snapdragon 898 chipset (SM8450).
The post mentions that the Lenovo Phone 3 Pro which is slated to be launched next year will be powered by the Snapdragon 898 chipset.
Chin Jin goes on to state that the chipset will feature greatly upgraded GPUs which adds fuel to the rumors that the Snapdragon 898 chipset is 20% faster than the Snapdragon 888 chipset.
We won't be able to gauge the performance of the Snapdragon 898 chipset until after its unveiling which Qualcomm announced will be before the end of the year.
With a top-ranking official like Chin Jin associating the Lenovo 3 Pro with the Snapdragon 898 chipset this early, we can expect the gaming smartphone to be one of the first smartphones to launch with the new chipset.
