Google Pixel 5a 5G Leak

Google denies rumors of Pixel 5a 5G being canceled, will be launching it later this year

There have been rumors floating recently around the internet that Google has canceled its expected Pixel 5a launch, which was to be unveiled later this year. A Google spokesperson addressed 9to5Google and debunked the rumors about the halting of the Pixel5a 5G production. The spokesperson stated that although the device will be launched only in Japan and the US, the expected August launch still stands.

The rumors stemmed from the fact that global phone manufacturers including Samsung, have been facing challenges with chip shortages. A famous YouTuber mentioned that Google is set to halt the Pixel 5a 5G production due to chip shortages. This claim was later backed by Android Central which cited two sources to reinforce it.

While the spokesperson did not mention a 5G variant, we are certain about the existence of one since the prequel, the Pixel 4a, has a 5G variant.

Google debunked the fake news and confirmed that the Pixel 5a 5G will still be launched as planned. The phone will officially be available for sale in Japan and the US by August, contrary to previous information that the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification had listed that it would be launched in India.

We expect that there would be some limitations to the Pixel 5a 5G as last year's launch of the prequel devices announced a list of regions where they would be available. The testing of the Pixel 4a is to continue and it will be launched at the same time.

Although the Pixel 5a 5G variant was not particularly mentioned in the rumor, Google mentioned a Pixel 5a 5G in its announcement. There is no certainty about the availability of a 4G variant, but the Pixel 5a, 5G production, will continue.

Google Pixel 5a 5G Rumours

The device is expected to be in the US and Japanese markets by August. This launching time-frame speculation matches last year's launching for the company's a-series phone.

While some are already looking forward to Pixel 6, which is the next device in the series, Google has not made any official announcement to that effect. There are speculations that it might also be launched by August.
